Kingmoon guide: controls, nitro, flags, Guardians and bosses
Kingmoon guide with keyboard and touch controls, nitro, how to plant flags, mission types, Guardians, the 5 bosses and the Hangar. Checked in the game.
This guide gathers what you can check inside Kingmoon itself: keys, ship numbers, the rules for each mission type and how to defeat each boss.
The game is simple to understand. You fly the ship, land to plant the flag in a sector and defend what you conquered. What changes from one planet to the next is the mission rules and what shows up along the way.
Controls: keyboard, mouse, touch and gamepad
On a computer, the keyboard flies and the mouse only aims. There is no auto-aim: you point the crosshair where you want to hit.
Every key can be rebound in Settings, on the Controls tab.
- W accelerates (hold) and S or C brake. A and D turn the ship. R and V raise and lower the nose.
- The mouse aims. Left click or J fires.
- Shift turns on the nitro. In space, the same Shift triggers the warp.
- Space with a direction performs a maneuver: with A or D it is a barrel roll, with S a half-turn and with W a quick dash.
- E lands, takes off and returns you to the ship. Holding F plants the flag.
- 1, 2 and 3 (or the mouse wheel) switch weapons. Q calls the mech. M opens the planet map. P or Esc pauses.
- On foot: WASD walks, Space jumps, Shift runs and the right mouse button aims close up.
- On phone, in landscape: floating left stick to fly or walk, right stick to aim, and buttons to fire, maneuver, nitro, accelerate, land, plant, jump and open the map.
- With a gamepad: A maneuvers or jumps, B interacts, X plants, Y opens the map, RT fires and L3 turns on the nitro.
The ship: speed, nitro and hull
Cruising speed is 70. Holding W, the ship reaches 112, and with the nitro, 170. In space, the ship moves faster and the warp goes past 500.
The nitro has a tank of 100 and burns 25 per second, so it lasts about 4 seconds in a row. It does not recharge over time.
- Low pass: flying fast less than 10 above the ground recharges the nitro.
- Planting a flag gives back 30 nitro. Dodging at the right moment, passing through a ring on the Ring Route and saving a flag also recharge it.
- Some enemies drop nitro items.
- The hull has 100 health and regenerates after 5 seconds without damage. Hitting rocks and buildings at a speed of 70 costs about 27, and at 112, about 43.
- The ship is never destroyed: with the hull at zero it is disabled for 6 seconds and comes back with 45 health.
- To land, press E below 170 altitude and outside of space.
Flags and sectors
Each planet is divided into 24 sectors. A conquest mission asks for a number of sectors or a percentage of the planet, such as 60%.
Planting takes 3 seconds of holding F and only works with no defenders within a radius of 42. An enemy sector requires you to tear down its flag first.
- Sector with an aerial Guardian: planting is blocked until you defeat it and the guide light turns on.
- A flag has 100 health and regenerates after 6 seconds without being attacked.
- The Threat Director warns of each attack 5 seconds ahead. The siege time is always at least 1.3 times the time it would take you on nitro, and never less than 35 seconds.
- The alert shows the sector name, the clock and an arrow at the edge of the screen with the distance and the arrival time on nitro.
Mission types
There are 25 missions, 4 planets and 1 boss per system. Each type changes what the mission asks. Stars reward finishing, not losing a flag (or, against a boss, not getting knocked out) and finishing under the mission's time.
| Type | What it asks | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Conquest | Plant flags in N sectors or across a fraction of the planet | Veyra, Korrath, Nivalis |
| Territory defense | Conquer the requested fraction and hold it for a set time; the clock stops if a flag falls | Mirevos, Emberos, Mirage |
| Nests | Destroy 3 to 4 enemy nests | Frostmere, Vulkar, Ferrum |
| Rescue | Repel 5 waves at a besieged outpost and escort the rescue shuttle to the capital | Hailor, Dunemar |
| Assault | Take the shield generators, then the capital of the robot or alien kingdom | Duskar, Cryon, Qasr, Kernel |
| Boss | Defeat the system boss in 4 phases, alternating between ship and on foot | Ossária, Glacia Prime, Forja |
Aerial Guardians and fighters
Every enemy sector has an aerial Guardian, which appears after the enemy flag falls. There is a 5-second alarm, a dogfight and, when it goes down, a guide light shows where to plant.
Besides the Guardians, squadrons of 2 to 4 fighters attack: robots fly in a V and aliens in a swarm. The elites launch a slow missile that a maneuver can dodge.
- Ace: fast and dodges shots. Stay on its tail.
- Bomber: only hits you if you pass underneath. Fight from the sides.
- Carrier: has 2 bays, and hitting them deals 1.6 times the damage. It releases drones.
- Gunner: heavy fire. Circle close to it.
- Phantom: vanishes from the radar. Search the sky.
- Swarm: 6 bodies sharing one health bar.
- Shield: protected from the front. Attack from behind.
- Ram: shows a red line before charging. A maneuver dodges it, and afterward it is vulnerable.
The 5 bosses
Each system ends with a boss that has 4 phases alternating between ship and on foot. Some parts can only be hit by the ship, others only by the hero's rifle.
| Boss | System | How to win |
|---|---|---|
| Tick Colossus | Torum | In the ship, hit the 4 glowing knees. On foot, destroy 3 generators on its back. Then, 2 cannons and the reactor core. |
| Ice Queen | Glacia | Break the 5 crystals that orbit her. When she falls and the arena freezes, hit the heart. |
| Living Forge | Pyra | Destroy the 2 blazing fists. In the on-foot fight, the arena floods with lava after a 4-second warning: stay on the islands of cool rock. |
| Worm King | Exit | Shoot the 6 glowing segments as it emerges. On foot, only the rifle hits the open mouth. |
| Mother Core | Nucleon | Take down 4 shield generators, dodging the sweeping laser. Then fly through the docking ring, destroy the conduits and the core, and escape before it explodes, within 22 seconds. |
Hangar: heroes, ships and weapons
Crystals from missions buy heroes, ships and weapons, and each one levels up to level 3. The first of each group comes unlocked.
| Hero | Price in crystals | Perk |
|---|---|---|
| Finn | unlocked from the start | The mech charges 30% faster |
| Barbara | 250 | Runs 20% faster, plants the flag 40% faster, more fragile suit |
| Fernando | 400 | Brings a drone that shoots and heals, and flag upgrades cost 20% less |
| Rae | 550 | 30% more damage on foot and 10% more health |
Ship, mech and garrison upgrades
The ship has 6 parts with 5 levels each: hull, engine, wings, cannon, missiles and shield. Upgrades change its look, and the paint jobs come from the badges you earn.
The mech only charges by taking down enemies, never over time. Each level lasts longer: 15, 18 and 21 seconds.
- Garrison: each flag has 3 slots. Shield, turret and drone cost Cores and get stronger with each level.
- Surrender: when almost the whole enemy garrison falls, the survivors surrender. Hold F near them to recruit them, for free.
- Vault: each flag collects 1 Core every 25 seconds, up to 12. Fly low, through the ring above it, to collect.
- Cards: at 25%, 50% and 75% of the mission, the game offers 3 cards and you keep one until the end of the run.
- Daily chest: 30 to 150 crystals, with a bonus on the seventh day in a row.
Frequently asked questions
Which hero should I buy first?
To plant faster, Barbara (250 crystals). To fight on foot, Rae (550). Finn, who comes unlocked, is great for learning.
How do I recharge the nitro?
By flying close to the ground with low passes, planting flags, dodging at the right moment or passing through the rings on the Ring Route. It does not recharge over time alone.
What do I do when one of my flags is attacked?
Follow the alert arrow and arrive on nitro. The siege time is always calculated so you can make it. A shield or turret garrison helps hold the line.
Why can't I plant the flag?
There may be defenders within a radius of 42, the enemy flag may still be standing, or an aerial Guardian may still be alive in the sector. Defeat the Guardian and follow the guide light.
Can the ship be destroyed?
No. If the hull hits zero, it is disabled for 6 seconds and comes back with 45 health.
