This guide covers what can be checked inside Nitrovenant itself: garage numbers, boss rules and what changes with each range of stages.

The race is simple. You drive across three lanes, the car fires on its own, and a single blue tank powers both the nitro and the machine gun. The rest of the game is deciding when to spend that tank and which lane to head for.

Controls: keyboard and mobile

On a computer, every action has a key. On mobile, you use gestures on the road and a nitro button on the screen.

The jump lasts under a second and has a short pause afterwards. If you press during the jump, the command is queued for a moment and fires as soon as the car lands.

  • Left and right arrows or A and D: change lanes.
  • Up arrow, W or Space: jump.
  • Hold Shift or N: turns on the nitro.
  • Hold F, S or the down arrow: turns on the machine gun. Holding the mouse button still on the road also works.
  • P or Esc: pause the race.
  • On mobile, swipe sideways to change lanes and up to jump.
  • On mobile, hold your finger still on the road for the machine gun and hold the nitro button for the nitro.

Garage cars: from the Rook to the Titan

The garage has 13 vehicles: 12 cars and the Blade motorcycle. Each step adds 14 health and 3 damage over the one before.

The nitro also grows with the car. A full tank deals 2,000 damage plus 1,000 for each step up the garage. On the Rook, that is 2,000.

Garage cars: from the Fury to the Blade motorcycle

The Blade is the exception in the table. It has the highest damage in the game, 62, and the strongest nitro, 14,000. In return, it has less health than the Golden, 200 against 254.

In the web version, the Golden and the Blade can also be bought with credits. In the Google Play app, they are the two optional purchases.

Best upgrades and how to earn credits

Each upgrade goes up to level 8. The price of the next level is the base cost times that level number, so the start is cheap and the end is expensive.

Maxing all three costs 23,400 credits: 9,000 for the weapon, 7,920 for the armor and 6,480 for the traction. That is less than the price of the Nomad.

Upgrades are saved to your profile, not to the car. When you switch vehicles, they all still apply.

Each traction level removes about 6.5% of the slowdown from dirt and mud. At level 8, you lose roughly half of what you would lose without it.

An order that tends to pay off is armor and weapon up to level 4, then the next car. Traction comes in once mud starts to get in your way.

Credits come from zombies. Each kill drops coins in its lane, and you collect them by driving over them. If you win the stage, the coins left on the road are added to your total.

Replaying the same stage pays less. The second win pays about two thirds, the third half, down to a minimum of a quarter. Losing pays 35% of what you collected. Moving forward pays more than replaying.

How to use the nitro and the machine gun

The nitro and the machine gun draw from the same blue tank. You only spend it while you hold the button, and releasing stops it instantly.

A full tank gives 3 seconds of nitro or 6 seconds of machine gun. To turn it on, the tank needs at least 4%.

With the nitro on, the car moves 60% faster, becomes immune, runs over regular zombies and drives over potholes. It also pulls in the good items from all three lanes and ignores the bad ones.

The nitro also hurts everything in front of you, bosses included. The full tank's total damage is spread over the 3 seconds.

The machine gun fires about three times faster than the normal shot, and each shot deals triple damage.

Each blue tank you collect restores 25%. Four fill the whole tank.

Road items: what to grab and what to avoid

The good items sit in the weakest lane of the horde, the one with only regular, smaller zombies. Follow that lane and you will pick up most of them.

The bad items, in red, show up in one of the other two lanes.

What you gather in a stage you win carries over to the next one: extra damage, missiles and the nitro tank. Losing the race resets those gains.

  • Missile parts: increase the number of missiles fired at once, up to 10. Each new missile needs one more part than the last.
  • Repair: restores 28 health. Brutes and bosses sometimes drop one when they fall.
  • Bad: one item cuts your damage by 35%.
  • Bad: one item takes 26 health and slows your shots for 4 seconds.
  • Bad: one item takes 24 health and slows the car for 2 seconds.
  • Bad: one item takes 25% of the nitro and slows the car for 4 seconds.
  • Bad: one item makes you lose a quarter of the credits from the run, or 80 if a quarter is less.

Enemies: how to handle each zombie

One rule applies to all of them: contact only hurts if the car is on the ground. Jumping over a zombie costs no health. With the nitro on, you simply run them over.

  • Regular zombie: the weakest. Contact takes 15 to 23 health, depending on the stage.
  • Runner (from stage 2): arrives faster and switches lanes after a short pause. Shoot it before it crosses over.
  • Mechanic (from stage 3): aims for over a second and throws a wrench into the lane you were in. The wrench deals 18 to 30 damage.
  • Brute: it is big, takes many more shots and hits for 25 damage. It is worth taking down quickly, because it may drop a repair.
  • Kamikaze (from stage 5): marks a lane and charges in a straight line. If it hits the car, it explodes and takes 34 health. Jump or change lanes.
  • There are 3 to 7 kamikazes per stage, 12 to 20 from stage 40, and double that from stage 50.

How to beat the bosses

There are four bosses: Traffic Warden, Pit Specialist, Elite Driver and Head Mechanic. They take turns across the stages, in that order.

All four use the same attacks. Only the look and the name change, so the attacks you learn work against all of them.

From stage 10 on, a second boss appears in the middle of the stage, and the final boss comes at the end. The mid-stage boss does not use the bomb.

Before each attack, the boss stops and prepares for about a second, and the game shows a warning on screen. It never repeats the same attack twice in a row.

When the final boss is down to 1,000 health or less, the horde runs away and it is left alone on the road. In this final stretch it hits 7% harder. Before that, the horde also shrinks as its health drops.

From stage 35 on, the final boss drops a parachute with an allied car. You can only grab it by jumping, and it comes once per run. The ally shoots beside you until the boss falls.

The boss also gets stronger over time. Its health doubles at stage 40, its attacks triple at stage 80 and its health doubles again at stage 100.

The damage values in the table are the ones from before stage 80.

Stages, terrain and Hell: tips for each stretch

There are 120 stages. The scenery changes every 5 stages (sun, rain, desert, snow and city) and then repeats. That is only visual. What changes the difficulty is the points below.

Within each stage the ground changes too. There is asphalt at the start, a stretch of dirt, asphalt again, a stretch of mud and asphalt until the end.

Dirt takes away 10% of your speed. Mud takes away 20%, makes lane changes slower and makes shots fly more slowly. In mud, shoot earlier.

From stage 45, losing a race drops the car into Hell. There, the difficulty is that of the middle of the stage, and the car keeps the damage, missiles and nitro it had, with full health.

If you beat the Hell boss, you go back to the stage exactly where you left off, with 60% health. If you lose there, the normal defeat applies.

From stage 50, each race can fall twice. The second fall is Fury Hell, with the difficulty of the whole stage, double the zombies per wave, six times the health and attacks 2.5 times stronger.

  • Stage 5: kamikazes arrive. Stage 10: the mid-stage boss appears. Stage 18: the final boss starts throwing bombs.
  • Stage 20: potholes appear. There are 3, and 2 more are added every 20 stages. Each one covers one, two or all three lanes. Jump or use the nitro.
  • Stage 50: double the kamikazes, and zombies hit 2% harder with each stage.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best car in Nitrovenant?

It depends on what you need. The Golden has the most health, 254. The Blade has the highest damage, 62, and the strongest nitro, but only 200 health. The Blade takes down bosses faster, and the Golden can take more punishment.

Is it better to upgrade the car or buy a new one?

At first, upgrade. Upgrades are cheap, work on any car and together cost less than the Nomad. Later, each new car adds health, damage and more nitro damage.

How do you beat the boss without losing much health?

Learn the four attacks. For the shockwave, jump or move to the free lane. For the charge, change lanes at the last moment. For the wrench and the bomb, leave the marked lane. And save your nitro for the fight.

How long does the nitro last and how do I recharge it?

A full tank lasts 3 seconds of nitro. Each blue tank you collect restores 25%, so four fill the tank. The machine gun uses the same tank and lasts 6 seconds.

How does revive work?

After you lose, the results screen offers the revive button, once per run. The game deducts that run's reward and returns the car with 60% health and a few seconds of immunity.

Why is the upgrade button locked?

There are three possible reasons: you lack credits, the upgrade is already at level 8, or there is a saved run in progress. Finish or restart the run and the button comes back.
